Day 145 - 220 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost on the Lake (or even Lost up the Creek) depending on what you're perspective is on the following story!
So the opening day of Memorial Day weekend went off just about the way we expected it to go. People had been checking in until late the previous night and getting out with a groggy look in the morning. Boats were scheduled from the marina and going in and out all day. The pool was getting busy by mid morning and the gas pump at the dock never slowed down all day. People were continually calling for availability of rooms and cabins which there were none. And THEN IT HAPPENED!
I got a rescue call from the lake. But it wasn't the average rescue call. This was a call to come and rescue the "Rescue Guy"! Joe from the marina down town opened the conversation with. "I am NEVER going to live this down!" I responded "What's up Joe?" He replied with "Can you bring me a can of gas up Bull Creek?"
No Way! I was going to get to rescue the "Designated Rescue Guy". By this time of the day, I had several guests/friends looking like they needed a little entertainment. I gabbed keys, gas can and hollered if they wanted to join me on a rescue. We headed up stream and back into the recesses of Bull Creek where I strictly forbid my boat renters from travelling. As we pulled up I could see the dismay on Joe's face as we all had our cameras out in video mode documenting the ordeal. Joe is good natured and said he knew exactly what to expect before he made the call. The can of magic elixir did the trick and they were soon under way.
When he stopped by later in the evening to pay for the gas, he also picked up a bag of "Lost on the Trail" coffee. As one final jab at him, I threw in a bag of "Lost on the Lake" to go with it.
I'm pretty sure he will forgive me at some point!
