Day 146 - 219 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost in the Fog (Guatemala decaf)
Well it's another week in the books even though the weekend is only half over. Memorial Day Weekend is in full swing and we are remembering what the summer season is like. BUSY!
You could describe it in a lot of ways, but "People Having Fun" seems to work best. All of our rooms and cabins are full and very few boats remain in the marina. Ironically, we had two different families in at Rainbow Haven from my home town in Iowa. One from my graduating class and one a year later but who I worked with at a couple jobs while in high school. The funny part was that neither knew the other would be here and they both knew each other for years. (decades actually) That was a fun surprise and it was good to share old stories.
AND...…. Even though I had some serious fun with my friend Joe from Mid River Marina yesterday, he showed us what he is really made of tonight. He called to let me know I had one of our boats had it's lights on in the dock. He, was on his way past our dock heading down the lake about 9:30 at night to rescue a stranded boat. He would be traveling through "pea soup" fog and about six or so miles in each direction. So......Yes, even though we gave him a bad time about needing a rescue himself, he was still the hero in someone's story for being out until close to midnight on a rescue mission in the fog! Kudo's to Joe!
