Day 161 - 204 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Highlander Grogg (butterscotch/rum flavor)
We are finally at our last full Florida day before returning home. Our adventure certainly felt "resort-ish" although very different. Instead of rustic cabins, fishing lodge or treehouse, we were in a very modern, contemporary condo by the ocean with more amenities than we are used to.
Many times during our trip I've been tempted to look for a nice house for sale down here to use as a southern get-away base for us. I even browsed the multi-list for some commercial property. In the end, I believe that the occasional visit will be good enough. No doubt we will have to visit the kids once or twice a year and that may be enough to scratch the Florida itch...…. Maybe not, but we'll see
What I did do in seriousness was start up the hunt for vacation/resort properties back home again. With the fast paced schedule everyone's been on, this morning gave me about three uninterrupted hours of research time. I found a couple of very intriguing properties which now has me motivated more than I've been in a while.
For now, there's plenty to do back home. We will have a number of pre July 4th projects to try and complete over the next couple weeks. It will be hard to believe that by then we will already be half way through the summer season. It seems like only a few days ago I was still in my "90 days 'til Spring" countdown.

The Last Resort Project:
We did have some prospective buyers look at the property while we were gone. I've not heard how that went yet. It's the least expensive of the resorts we have for sale and has quite a lot of potential for the right owner. A 3 bedroom 2 bath house with seven additional cabins and a very large in-ground pool. All for only $139,000. The three tenants we have there now almost cover the cost of the mortgage so the income potential is almost where it need to be to already break even on the costs. Here's an article I wrote on the subject a couple years ago. It's about how to "Get Your House for Free"
“The fear of any adventure is the root of unfilled life.”
