Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost at Sea???????? No, Lost on the Lake!
I've been getting random messages from the Resorts. Nothing catastrophic. Perhaps one reservation glitch, but I'm confident they can get it fixed. They are figuring out that an old resort has it's moods just like an old anything else. Most of the occasional breakdowns have been dealt with over the past couple of years but they still pop up from time to time. (I knew we should have sneaked out more quietly) It seems like when, not only the people know we're gone, but the equipment as well...…. things go haywire. But I'm sure they can handle whatever comes up!
Meanwhile, the Callahan adventure continues along the Florida Intercostal Waterway. He has his Aunt, Captain Adreane (yes, she really is a captain) training him to take the helm of the Big Boat! He's figured out that it's easier to stand on the steering wheel and play with the throttles!.....And all the buttons.
We also experienced a stop at "The Whale's Rib". A restaurant featured on Diners, Drive-In's and Dives! All of the recommendations included getting the "Whale Chips" along with the "Whale Juice" dipping sauce. I'm pretty sure the Whale Chips were simply home made fried potato chips (Which were awesome)…. The Whale Juice??????? Not sure what that was exactly, but the chips wouldn't be the same without it! Where would Whale Juice even come from...…. Squeeze a whale?????
One of the interesting parts of our trip is staying in the, I guess it's a condo. It's big and handles our family really well. We've begun transitioning some of our cabin units over to the Vacation rental program, similar to this, and as we are enjoying this experience, we are even beginning to adjust our "Resort Adventure" plans to perhaps fit this business model.
