Day 189 - 176 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Highlander Grogg (Butterscotch/Rum flavors)
Even though the July 4th week and weekends have passed, we are still completely full of holiday guests. Most of them are self sufficient enough to take care of themselves with the exception of the odds and ends fishing tackle shopping. With the lake not cooperating with boat rentals, I've really been kind of bored. I can't really leave, but most of the time there's not much to do either. So. I started on a grandson project that was becoming more and more urgent.
He loves being outside on the deck with us but with about 14 steps down to ground level, we can't let him get more than a few steps away before he heads straight to the steps. It's kind of like the "Cow looking at an open gate" effect. So I started my "Callahan Corral" today. Of course, just like the cow looking at the open gate principle, there's the "Customers showing up for something every time you pick up a saw" effect too. I suppose there may be a scientific theory at work here that I could tap into. When business is slow, start a project and everyone will show up.
In spite of the interruptions, we were able to extend the deck railings across the entry to the office and get a respectable locking gate to keep him corralled. We will be giving it a test run later this week when he gets here again. I'm finding it kind of funny that so much of our "Resort Adventure" is beginning to involve making a memorable experience for our grandson.
Maybe that's what it's all about after all.

The Last Resort Project:
I assigned the monthly list of improvements to the boys today and plan to check progress as they get into the week. Part of it is installing new water heaters, a/c units and fixing some electrical issues.
