August 8 - Resort Adventures

August 8, 2019
Day 220 - 145 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost up the Creek (Colombia)

There are times I think about the contrast between the slow winter season and days like today in the middle of summer. In the winter, I may be working on some "slow season" project or just sitting around wishing it was Summer. Then there's the Summertime days like today when I can feel pandemonium building before a weekend gets here. Our schedule book is completely full for the weekend with a six check in's today and three more tomorrow. Most of the week long stays are over for the year and we are getting into the part of the year where our guests are staying anywhere from two to four days. I've finally figured out that what that means is most of them are not scheduling a two to four day vacation. They are scheduling a seven day vacation and trying to get it all done in two to four days. This, of course, is just fine (if they can do it) but there are some funny side affects to it. One example that I see all the time is a family wanting to schedule a boat for part of a day but then showing up to buy fishing licenses for everyone during their "boat time" getting a large family through the fishing license process can take over an hour at times considering the speed of the on-line fishing license process. Nobody ever gets mad or bent out of shape but it just adds to the frantic-ness of trying to schedule so many things to do at once. Don't get me wrong. just because it can get frantic, doesn't mean we're not having fun.

I guess even that is part of the adventure.
