Day 243 - 122 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost in the Woods (Colombia/Costa Rica blend)
Today began the last big Summer Holiday. It started well and as far as our guests were concerned, as always, it mostly felt just like a Summer Holiday. Behind the scenes, however, was the normal chaos and frantic moments that seem to accompany every major holiday. It started with a guest TV that quit working in the middle of the night, then was the boat that quit working out on the lake, not to mention the complete foot race keeping up with the rental boats, gas sales, tackle sales and other mayhem that goes with the "Adventure". The boat problem was the one single thing that I seemed to have no control over and had no way of fixing. That issue by itself ruined a guest experience, my day and will upset the guest for tomorrow planning to use it. Of all the things I dread, it's the breakdowns, simple or complex that I can do nothing about. Brad and Jared bailed me out of the little things but...…. The Boat?????...……. Uggghhhh
The day was topped of with a little comedy relief when the dumpster in the parking lot next to us caught fire. There's no telling how that happened but after everything else, a fire truck came roaring up with lights and sirens blazing.
By the end of the day, there was the customary beautiful sunset, S'mores by the campfire and peaceful evening by the lake.
“I’m an adventurer, at least in spirit and optimism.”
