Day 276 - 89 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost up the Creek (Colombian)
Out of every 100 events (or so) I would say that only 3 or 4 of them are "Worse Case Scenario" type of events. I think the same could probably be said for "Days" as well. If that's true, then today would have been one of those worse case scenario kind of days! It started with a broken down boat that I was not able to get into the shop. One boat down isn't a crisis necessarily this time of year, but when the second one developed a problem last weekend, all of a sudden I didn't have enough boats to fill the reservations for this weekend. I twisted arms and begged the shop to squeeze me in which they agreed to do but not until my reservations were already here. After some groveling with guests, I got the situation somewhat resolved. THEN...….. This morning when my last functioning boat was due to go out...…… IT QUIT!
I swear, when I leave them tied up in the dock, I really believe they sit out there playing cards, smoking cigars, drinking cheap whiskey and plotting how they can make my life miserable and drive me out of my mind!
I laid on the boat deck hanging over the back working beneath the water on the stupid thing for close to an hour to no avail. Then shifted to some relays on board which thankfully, one was bad and easy to replace. While it fixed that one, it also red-lined my patience and frustration levels. With one of the other non-functioning boats delivered to the shop last night, I'm hoping for some good news tomorrow that it will be an easy and quick fix.
I guess even cantankerous boats add to the Adventure. (More so than I have much of a tolerance for though!)
