Day 298 - 67 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost in the Woods (Colombia/Costa Rica Blend)
Cozumel Mexico is our most often visited "cruise destination". I think every cruise ship stops here on their way in or out of the states. The water is gorgeous, calm on the Mexico facing side of the island and rolling waves on the Caribbean Sea side. We almost always opt for a Jeep rental on Cozumel to explore the island on our own and at our own pace. Today that included swimming in the warm, clear water on the calm side of the island along with lunch on the beach under a grass hut cabana just a few steps from the water. We began our cruise life fearing some of the local food (and water) on shore but have learned to be selective and safe when choosing our on-shore dining. Today it was a delicious meal at Mr. Sancho's resort.
I have never been quite able to figure out how water that is so crystal clear can also be described as blue, turquois, jade, emerald and so on at the same time, Caribbean water is just that way. As a flat-lander from the mid-west, I don't think I'll ever lose my amazement of it.
Cozumel was our last cruise destination before heading back to the states. We'll have another day and a couple nights to still enjoy the trip but it's a sad moment leaving the sandy beaches for the last time on each cruise adventure!
