At times, the Resort Adventure is mostly an adventure in endurance. In the Summer, that usually means very busy days, sometimes 12-16 hours long taking care of guests and the general Summertime upkeep with pools, lawn, housekeeping and so on. It's a different story in Winter and this year, even more so. For anyone reading this in years to come, we are right in the middle of the coldest weather event I've ever experienced in SW Missouri. It made it to 10 below zero which is unheard of around here. Back in Iowa, where I'm from, it's not that uncommon so I've been there, done that. But further south....It's not the shock of the cold on me specifically that's a problem. (Heck...I've camped out in a tent in colder weather than this) The problem is more with how our buildings react to the cold. They certainly aren't used to it. It really comes down to the water systems. (and I suppose the minimal attention that went into insulation when most of the older buildings when they were built) Regardless, any weather this cold certainly adds to the "Adventure". It's all part of the experience I suppose. I think we got ahead of it for the most part so the freeze damage should be minimal. We'll give a report on that in a few days when it's supposed to be back in the 60's.
Adventure Quote: “Adventure, yeah. I guess that's what you call it when everybody comes back alive.”
