Day 239 of the Adventure

Pre-Dawn Campfire
There is a large rain passing to our north this morning. It's not giving us any yet, but it probably will before it's all over. What it is giving us is a beautifully fresh breeze. One I decided to take full advantage of by getting out and about long before sunrise. It's one of the simple pleasures out here in the woods. One I cannot find adequate words to describe. At least from my perspective. I think the impending rain has left the lake quiet this morning as well as the small amount of traffic to the lake which passes not too far from us up the hill on the road. It's never a bother, but on quiet days, it's noticeably even more quiet. That quiet is part of the beauty and charm of living far from the hustle and bustle of town. Or even the areas close to town. At 61 years of age, I sometimes wonder what took me so long to find this kind of solitude much sooner.

My Squatch!
My sister and her husband joined us yesterday morning by the fire and Bob asked if I'd seen any Sasquatch down here yet. I'm sure he was joking, but down here you never can tell. I did a parody video of a Big Foot encounter one time (that was obviously fake) nevertheless, I received a lot of hate on-line over it for making light of a serious subject. I told him I had not seen one yet but occasionally would hear the odd, unexplained sounds out in the dark woods. We are remote but I don't think quite remote enough to satisfy a Sasquatch. I do, however, have a good friend I like to call Patsquatch (his name is Pat) who would be more than happy to set up a Squatch-Watch program in my woods. If anyone could find one, it would probably be him. The mere suggestion of it would cause giddiness and excitement in his life. He and his wife Betty visited us here a while back and his first comment was, "You know you're just far enough off the beaten path to be getting into their territory!" I knew immediately who.... or what he was referring to. So without question, there will be plenty of invitations for Pat (Betty too if she wants to put up with us) to come sip coffee by the fire and exchange Squatch stories.

So far, the only serious Sasquatch sighting I've had is the one on my refrigerator door. No, his name is not Midea, that's the fridge. But I'll name him eventually. Shelley, of course, rolls her eyes at the Squatch talk, but you know, someone has to balance this Adventure out and keep it believable. So, I'll carry the torch, keep my ears and eyes to the woods and report any suspicious and mysterious activity from the direction of the forest behind Camp Run-Amuck (You know, the name just doesn't add much credibility to our Big Foot encounters...... Or maybe it's the perfect name to inspire the appropriate level of credibility!)

Carry On
