Day 337 of the Adventure
I just read an interesting as well as alarming article out of Colorado today about a utility company locking its customers out of their home thermostats. Customers with "Smart-Meter" thermostats went to adjust their air conditioning during a heat wave only to find out that they had been locked out of them by the utility company citing an energy emergency as the reason. (Read about it here) Over 22,000 customers were affected by the thermostat lock out. I guess the regulation of power is reaching a micro-managed level these days. That is if we can't decide for ourselves how to use the utilities we are paying for.
Part of the reason for our venture into solar power along with various forms of back-up measures is to guard against shut-downs of one type or another, whether by natural, corporate or government forces. It feels as if we are slowly losing control of our own destiny. Self-Sufficient solutions are gaining in merit in my humble opinion.
Carry On
Adventure Quote: “The proverb warns that, 'You should not bite the hand that feeds you.' But maybe you should, if it prevents you from feeding yourself.”
