Day 856 of the Adventure
A couple weeks ago Shelley and I were playing around with a candle making kit we had recently got. In the process of pouring one, we discovered we had more wax than jars to fill them with. There was a spare "Base Camp" coffee cup sitting nearby and the thought hit me. Candle Cup! Upon seeing it, Our Treehouse Resort Manager suggested we take some of the gift shop coffee mugs and create some candles for the gift shop. Tonight was the experimental version of that.
Prior to this, we spent the day, yes, February 4, at our kids house celebrating Christmas. Along with New Years, two Birthdays, Goundhog Day and anything else we may have missed. We've never been very staunch at celebrating on the exact day. We generally are willing to defer to allowing our family to be with their spouse's side if they are planning an event. We've always been okay with that. Although due to schedules, kids and/or adults being sick, bad weather and the like, this is the latest that we've celebrated Christmas. The grandkids didn't even question any of it as they raced to open presents and eat birthday cake. So all of that was good.
Back to the candles though. We attempted a group of coffee scented candles complete with coffee beans floating on top. That felt like it was a success. so we moved on to another scent. Campfire seemed like a good idea. Upon pouring the scents, I could not help but get them on me. My hands smelled like coffee and campfire. How Appropriate. I hadn't thought of it until that moment. The interesting part is that it does not wash off very easily. As I finish my day, the aroma of fresh coffee and a campfire is trailing along after me whatever I happen to be doing. I'll add some links to the bottom of the page if you feel like experimenting with candles yourself.
