Day 898 of the Adventure

This morning a number of good things were happening at the cabin. The first one was that our grand-daughter would be visiting. Later, our daughter would be joining for some good old fashioned Corned Beef and Cabbage in honor of St Patty's Day. Which constitutes the second and third good things for the day. I've never been sure of why we have to wait until this one day to enjoy some corned beef and cabbage. I suppose it's one of the "downsides" to traditions. To be a tradition, it only works on that one day. Kind of like Birthday cake. Why do you only get to eat birthday cake one day of the year? We're all adult enough to know you only have one birthday per year regardless of how many birthday cakes you get to eat......... I think one per week would be about the right number. So much for that rant though! I'm getting off track.

I have always hoped that we would have the opportunity to give our grandkids a taste of the great out-doors in a fun and responsible way. The effort of building a backwoods cabin is now proving to be another reason why it was a good choice for us. At the ages of 3, 4 and 5, they are just now in the age of curiosity and impressionability. Grandpa and grandma's cabin in the woods is beginning to be one of their favorite destination. I'm good with that. So is Grandma!
