This morning, the only sound was that of birds singing outside. If you haven't been following for the past two days, you wouldn't know that the dominant sounds around the cabin have been that of a pair of four and five year old boys. It's the sound of borderline mayhem. It's not a bad sound, just A LOT of sound. Today, it's the quietness of nature.

I talk a lot about the reasons for our Cabin in the Woods life and this is just part of it. The excitement of outdoors adventures, campfires, cook-outs and just romping around in the outdoors is addictive to kids. As it should be. It even rubs off onto the grandparents a little. I guess that's part of the duties of grandparenting. Making sure the kids get a good dose of fresh air and adventure from time to time. I'm not quite sure our younger grand-daughter is quite ready for a solo sleep-over but she still gets the benefits of the golf cart rides, building and feeding the campfire and all the other benefits of the cabin life when she's here.

Cabin life is a place where memories are made.
