Day 916 of the Adventure
Today we made our way out to the "Bug-Out" site. The name implies "Apocalyptic Escape" refuge. Although it could be nothing more than a vacation home. So, which is it? Actually, since it's 100% off-grid and completely self-sufficient, technically, it's both. It belongs to our kids from Florida. Somewhere along the line, they decided that an off-grid property deep in the Ozark Mountains was a good idea. I'm still not completely sure of the motive behind it but if it means more family visits, I'm all in favor of it. Although this time we haven't been able to spend much time there, it's still fun to check in on the progress. We were recruited to deliver a 1,000 gallon tank to the property today. While there, I climbed into the backhoe to help with some nerve-wracking work of extending the landing around one of the containers. It was meant to reach the area where the septic system would be installed. It was sort of like working on the edge of a cliff with heavy equipment. I'll admit that I did not like it one bit. Then again, it makes for good stories as long as everyone survives and all disasters are avoided. Which was the case today. We left mid-afternoon and later I received word that the pit had been finished and the tank was now in it. Success. If you're interested in seeing the project, here's a video link to it.
