Day 973 of the Adventure
You may have read the posting from a couple days ago about my efforts with varmint mitigation. With squirrels being the main offenders and racoons being a distant second, I had not given all that much thought to any other pesky species. Until this morning. We awoke today with a skunk in one of the live traps.......... While sorta cute...... in a toxic sort of way, I'm not all that excited about them hanging about the cabin. What exactly do you do with a live skunk in a live trap? Without going into all the smelly details, I'll simply say that by the end of it, we ruined a tarp, the violator was removed from the area and my shoes now smell quite "Skunky", I managed to avoid getting any of the skunk aroma on myself...... almost. My hands did require multiple washings in everything we had available. Gasoline was going to be my next option, but I didn't have to resort to that extreme of a measure. I believe I have come to the conclusion that live traps are not the solution I believed they were yesterday. Now, while writing this post, I'm trying to enjoy an evening on the back deck, but my eyes are watering. Good thing there's a bit of a breeze!
