Day 1,285 of the Adventure
Three years ago, we had not yet broke ground on out cabin. In fact, we were still clearing the spot in the woods where it was going to be built. It was leaving us only about 45 days to get it to the point of being livable before we would need to move onto the property. That was quite an adventure. The reality was that we had not even started the utility control building, which was to be the heart of our "energy supply" system. It was quite an undertaking. All of it represents an "ideal" I suppose. One of a modern form of self-sufficiency. The journey so far has been one of work and satisfaction. We hope the process has been one of entertainment and inspiration to others. I still feel that building and creating something like this is rapidly becoming a lost art. I also believe that every step we take away from these skills is a step towards reliance and dependency on others. Ultimately, that leads to a place I never want to find myself. Just a few thoughts as a sip my morning coffee out on the back deck, looking at the woods.
