Day 1,325 of the Adventure
From the very beginning of our dreams to move to, and build our life in a remote, backwoods location, we've had a larger idea brewing in the backs of our minds. It started working its way to the forefront of our thoughts during the last couple of months. Our interest, and commitment to, finding a more self-sufficient lifestyle is a personal quest for ourselves, but also extends beyond that. We've experienced the hardship of financial struggle early on in our life together. We know what that's like. It's not been as much of an issue for us personally over the past few years, but I see it manifest all around me every day. Looking back to our beginnings, I see the struggle repeating in the lives of others, only in some ways, with even greater challenges. Everything from the costs of food, housing, insurance, energy and other essentials look to be strangling a large part of our population. Yes, in many ways, I see some hope for a leveling out of these economic pressures. In other ways, I see the very real potential for things to remain just as difficult and complicated. What can I do personally, to help mitigate these challenges?
We've always been the kind of people who simply refuse to buckle under the weight of difficulty. 40 plus years ago as we began our small family, we found ourselves continually fighting to make ends meet. Part of our solution was to begin exploring self-sufficient life practices that made up the foundation of our existence back then. Another part was to press our way into an entrepreneurial mindset which helped us eventually overcome the lack of finances by replacing that paradigm with a "Creation of Resources" paradigm. Neither are very easy to establish, but both are critical in the long-term survival of life from a financial point of view. SO........ How does this fit with our current plans? Touch base with me tomorrow as I begin to unfold our ideas.
