Day 1,327 of the Adventure
For the past two days, I've been laying out our plans for a fairly big idea once we get back home. If you haven't read parts 1 and 2 yet, you really should stop and go do that before you start here. (Link to Part 1, Link to Part 2) Yesterday, the focus was on our plans to begin using our backwoods place as a resource center for training skills of off-grid and homestead life. Along with that, we do have plans to build some basic accommodations for up to two couples (or individuals) to be able to stay on-site for up to 2-3 days at a time for experiencing life in the backwoods. What exactly will all of this look like?
The first part of our plan includes clearing and cleaning up a patch of woods next to the garden to construct a couple of campsites. There will also be a gathering shelter for providing an area for hands-on educational experiences. We are planning to demonstrate food preservation, solar plant construction/assembly, garden hydroponics and some limited building skills. Along with teaching these various skills, we plan to expand our greenhouse areas to provide sessions on greenhouse growing. Finally, we are currently making connections with suppliers of products related to all of this so product resources will also be available.
