Morning Solitude with a Woodland Friend - June 25

Day 1,363 of the Adventure


By 6:30am today, I had finished the garden watering and was enjoying the peace and quiet of the morning on the back deck with a cup of coffee. After a few minutes, the silence was broken with a stomping and snorting commotion from the woods off to my right. There was no question that it was a nervous deer voicing its displeasure about something in "deer-speak". The source of its irritation could have even been me tapping away on my keyboard updating a blog post. Or perhaps the clatter of my coffee cup being set back down on the side table next to my chair. Either way. I tried to quiet myself down to match the quiet of the woods around me. Soon, a nervous looking deer wandered into the meadow. Was it the same one? I have no idea. Nevertheless, I was joined by a woodland friend for a few minutes as we both took advantage of the early solitude of the day. Just another Wednesday in the backwoods
