Day 1,364 of the Adventure
The last couple of mornings, I've been able to spend a little time just being quiet out on the back deck. My company has been deer, birds, coffee, owls and solitude. It's something I longed for but found elusive most of life. I guess that age and perspective changes things. The last few days are a testament to this. As the summer heat kicks up to somewhere between bake and broil, we've been getting our "workday" started around 6am. Only to knock off at about 10:30. By then, shade and air conditioning take's a priority over progress. I'm beginning to understand appreciate the term "siesta" like never before. The dictionary defines siesta as "an afternoon rest or nap, especially on taken during the hottest part of the day in a hot climate". Are we a hot climate here in SW Missouri? Hot enough and that's all I have to say about that. Other afternoon activities may include watering the garden or........ I don't know. I can't think of anything else much that works well in the early afternoon heat. I guess we've become okay with slowing down on purpose and just not worrying too much about it. Thinking about it, it's not too bad of a "Life Approach" is it!

Adventure Quote: “Certainly work is not always required of a man. There is such a thing as a sacred idleness, the cultivation of which is now fearfully neglected.” ―
