Five Rows High - August 7

August 7, 2025

Day 1,406 of the Adventure

We've made it five rows high along the south basement wall now. It's time for cutting rebar into the horizontal seams of the block, adding sealant to the outside of it and then locking it all in with one more row of block before we move on to the next section. No, this is not the finished height. It is a decent height to seal and backfill the "dirt side" to keep rain from washing soil down into the basement and covering the walls, footings, tools, hopes and dreams......... and so on. Once we get the whole thing to this height, we'll go back around and finish laying blocks to the finished height. If you look closely at the cabin door, you can see the top of the basement wall which still has two more courses to go in that spot. Just to give it some perspective. While my stamina is building up, I'm still only up to about 40 blocks before the sun gets high enough to chase us back into the house. One interesting note is that I've finally hit the halfway point on using up the 1,700 blocks we started with.......... Progress!
