Day 19 - 346 Days to go
41 Days until March 1
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Frosty's Favorite (in honor of the snow we got this morning)
I'm working on the Resort Adventures entry for the day early because I know that with the ugly weather and the fact that I'll be in the office most of the day, not much else will happen. I just noticed that there are guys out on the lake this morning. Yes it's drizzling and spitting snow, but there they are. (If you look close in the picture, you can see a snowflake or two...… maybe three) I'll surely consume a pot of coffee today and probably take a nap somewhere along the way. But that's okay! One thing that will disrupt the monotony for a little while is that I will have to go turn some heat on in the cabins. 19 degrees are in the forecast for tonight. I guess with that said, I have no doubt there will be people showing up to get their LP bottles filled. Plus I'll have to pour some RV antifreeze into some of the drains at the Black Bear Cabin location. January is not a good time to take over a project like that but that's the way it worked out so we'll just go with it.
The office work today is mostly going to be finalizing the business plan and projections for the bank on Project X. If I had just a little more confidence in all of it coming together I would deliver the announcement. Maybe this coming week that will happen. This project may end up being the result of about two years worth of brainstorming and planning.
The resort business is fulfilling by itself, but if you ever try it and decide to grow it to any size, then you begin looking for other elements to continue making the experience more unique for your guests. Our first couple of resort properties pretty much provided lodging and a small "Resort" experience with amenities around the property like a swimming pool, smoker and firepit areas. The treehouse resort opened up huge opportunity for adding recreational activities and an extremely unique lodging experience. The Rainbow Haven Resort added fishing, boating, kayaking and other lake based features. This new project will add a food and entertainment opportunity for our guests to enjoy (as well as others). More to come on all of that!
As I finish todays Resort Adventures posting, I can see from my office that it really is snowing now. And sure enough, there's the first customer for a 100lb LP bottle fill up.
What I love most about this crazy life is the adventure of it.
