Day 101 - 264 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Highlander Grogg (Butterscotch/Rum flavored)
Coffee on the Deck has one meaning at the treehouses and a completely different meaning on a 1,000 foot long ship in the Caribbean. Even though I claimed to have "Saved you a Seat", I knew I would have the whole deck to myself for at least an hour or so around sunrise. Balmy weather persists even at 6:30 in the morning on the route to Progreso, Mexico which was our stop for the day. For everyone else it was a mad stampede to leave the ship for excursions and souvenir shopping. For me, I sipped coffee until the crowd left then wandered around the shops close to the ship. That was good enough for me.
Progreso is a place that reminds me a little of back home in one respect. It's a place trying to carve out a niche in the tourist market. It has some things going for it but has a ways to go as well. Our Rockaway Beach resort properties are similar in that respect. We have a lake right on main street, countless shows, attractions and scenery all within minutes, but still live with the "Sleepy Little Place on the Lake" reputation. I'd say that's not all bad, in fact many people like it exactly that way.
Rockaway Beach has the makings of a nice experience as well, just trying to learn how to fit in the shadow of the mega-tourist destination...Branson.
“Wonderful adventures await for those who dare to find them.”
