April 12 - Resort Adventures

April 12, 2019
Day 102 - 263 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost in the Fog (Guatemala Decaf)

Its Happy Anniversary Day to my Wife and Adventure Partner. Today is 39 years of life together and we are celebrating in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. No destinations today, just relaxing and enjoying the salt air, the company of good friends and the consumption of good food.

Believe it or not, I can easily find solitude on a ship with 5,000 people on board. You just need to know where to look (and how to sufficiently scare people away from you) ----- JUST KIDDING! For several years now, cruise ships have been my "Get-Away from reality so I can think and plan" time. They try THEIR BEST to sell me a phone service plan while on board...….. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!

What would be the point of that?

I get to sit 10 stories above the ocean, watch the sunrise (or sunset) (or sun...) see flying fish skimming over the waves, an occasional dolphin, plenty of entertaining people. Some fueled by a zest for life, others fueled by adult beverages. I'm personally content with a good cup of coffee. It's not a Base Camp variety, but if it were, I'd call it "Lost at Sea". In fact, I may need to bring that one into the family somehow. The picture you see on the left is one I took early Friday morning as the sun was coming up. The railing reminds you that I am 10 stories above the water.

Upon arriving back to the states and the resorts, we will begin to position the Resort Adventure for a transition. This could be a three month or a three year transition but things will definitely begin to change. In some ways I've squandered much of my cruise time away sleeping and resting out on the deck in the sun or back in the quiet of the stateroom. Planning has not been as much of a priority as getting some much needed R&R. Nevertheless, I've been quietly piecing together what the coming months will look like back home. The picture to the right is one final sunrise cup of coffee on the last full day at sea.
