Day 98 - 267 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost on the Trail (Guatemala)
Today the planning is done, the driving is done, by noon or so, the check in was done and we set sail (I guess that's not accurate because there are no sails) but we set off for the open ocean aboard a luxury cruise ship. How do I know its luxury? I managed to talk them out of a drink umbrella for my coffee cup!
Getting here is never easy. At least the last mile of it always beats me up. I've been thinking of a new coffee flavor called "Lost in Louisiana" or at least "Lost in New Orleans" because the last three time I've driven into the port I've somehow gotten lost in parts of the French Quarter. At least I think that's where I was. The trouble with naming a coffee flavor after it is that we would really only get to enjoy it about twice per year. Although I suppose that would be enough.
We are shipping out with friends who have a lot in common with us. To them the experience is a legitimate adventure. They've made the long ride enjoyable and it all helped keep us awake on the road. They are visionaries and sharing ideas, plans and general brainstorming is energizing to me.
