Day 120 - 245 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost on the Lake (Colombia/Sumatra blend)
Today was heavy on Adventure AND heavy on Intensity. What was expected as a stormy day did not really develop around here until very late in the day. We had been out running errands and picking up a refrigerator for the house in the afternoon. Nearing 4 pm you could tell that things were about to get serious. We drove home in a lightning storm with very little rain. Got there just in time to try to muscle the refrigerator up the steps, through the office and into the house when the rain broke loose and the tornado sirens went off. So with sirens blaring, rain pelting us and lightning striking we finally finished our task, set down for a breather and watched the chaos unfold on TV until about 11:30.
A tornado siren seems extra ominous echoing between the bluffs of a river valley and even though we did not get severe weather, plenty of communities around the Ozarks did experience tornado damage. I've not heard how many there were but I'd say there were dozens.
A friend posted a message that he was in his wine cellar. I wondered if he meant storm shelter. He said he was in the cellar drinking some wine. I guess that works! LOL
After the early rains and the sirens died down, it actually seemed kind of peaceful and serene around the lake.
The next thing we will be watching is the rain. It looks to be stacking up in a serious way over the White River Basin and we may get enough to cause flooding...……...
