May 29 - Resort Adventures

Day 149 - 216 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost on the Lake (Colombia/Sumatra blend)

Okay. Today I decided it was time to begin my 4th round in my continuing war with the infamous "Rock Buoy". I don't know whose idea it was that it was to belong to the owner of the Rainbow Haven Resort, but somewhere along the line, that's what happened. I certainly didn't spend the entire day at it, but when you start adding up all of the battles I've waged with that stupid thing, it's starting to add up! The Rock Buoy and I have this agreement...…. I guess...….. Either it's going to do me in, or I'm going to conquer it's will and stubborn determination to not remain at it's post and simply do it's job!...……. Raising teenagers wasn't even this difficult!

Armed with CHAINS, this time, and multiple cinder blocks, I headed off to the boats to prepare for battle. My son made the unfortunate mistake of showing up just as I was ready to haul my arsenal (and my arse) down to the lake. He graciously offered (at my persistence) to lend a hand. I gave him his choice of duties and he wisely chose to be the boat operator. Which was fine with me. That way I got to personally man-handle the contrary Buoy myself. Trust me, I was plenty tempted to add in a couple of elbow drops and knees to the ribs if given the chance and if no one was looking. (to the buoy, not the boy) I suppose that Rock Buoys don't have ribs, but I think it would have given me a certain element of satisfaction in any case.

In times past, the wrangling of the buoy has been quite the entertaining, and frustrating, affair. My first experience with it included the help of Craig and Tom. Read About it Here! The next time, I tried to ignore my encounter with it hoping to discourage it from any attention it might get out of the struggle. The third time, it showed up at Joe's Mid River Marina and tried to take over operations there. Here's That Story! Joe called and said that my Rock Buoy had taken up a strategic corner space in one of his boat slips and wasn't letting anyone near it! I drove down there and got ahold of the contrary thing by it's eye-bolt and physically dragged it back to the parking lot and threw it into the truck and hauled it home. It defended itself with a layer of lake slime, but I still managed to prevail. That was last winter and it's been in solitary confinement in the basement at the Rainbow Haven Resort until today. ( I wouldn't be surprised if it's corrupted any and everything else I have stored there with it's attitude.....  I'll probably be fighting with the stray shop vac and washing machines next!)

Maybe it's learned it's lesson...……… But I doubt it.

Anyway, it has finally been returned to the rock pile where it belongs. This time I've deployed a "Chain Gang" approach to keep it there. We'll see what happens next. I'm keeping a close and wary eye on it

The Last Resort Project:
Too busy fighting with the Rock Buoy today! But I think that Brad and Jared may have got some things done!
