Day 1,281 of the Adventure
It was a chilly 68 degrees in the cabin at 6am this morning when I woke up. Staying in bed was very tempting. There was nothing that compelled me to climb out from under the warm covers other than knowing that the damp chill in the air would not leave until someone built a fire in the stove. Plus, I could not smell any coffee brewing..... That was a problem. Plus..... there was distant lightning and thunder from yet another approaching storm front. This meant that in minutes, my attempt to gather a handful of firewood and kindling from the wood box out back would render me wet. I'm not sure if it's been four days or two weeks since it started raining. Between the chill, the dampness, the lack of coffee aroma and the sky beginning to lighten, it was simply time to get out of bed and get the day started. I had the fire built, the coffee made, and the cabin was warming up when the storm and rain arrived. From the looks of the radar, it's going to be another day spent inside. Shelley recently completed her third devotional book and it's time to work on the editing of it. Maybe the rain is my sign to get busy on that so she can send if off to the publisher. Yesterday I was complaining a bit about the weather and being stuck indoors all day. Today, I'm in a better mood and think I'll take advantage of the time to help her with that project.
