Reaching The Right Basement Height - June 4

June 4, 2025

Day 1,342 of the Adventure

What began with a flurry of enthusiasm and activity last fall, slowed to a complete standstill during the winter and early spring. But we've now recaptured the enthusiasm to get building on the basement once again. We've still only just got a good start on it, but progress is happening once again. The part of it that makes up the storm shelter and root cellar has achieved the correct height, at least on the corners. The upper level of this portion of basement will house our summer kitchen when complete. Since I can avoid mud by working this section, I'm not as limited by the weather. Yes, there's still mud in other areas, and we will get to those at every opportunity. We've suddenly got a new motive for finishing this particular part and it has to do with bringing some of our tools from storage. That story will be reserved for another day. For now, I have one course on two walls and two courses on the other two walls to complete. Then on to the next step.

Carry On
