It's Saturday and even though Saturday's are typically busy, this time of year not so much. December marks the first real month of "Down Time" in the business. You better make it from April through November, because it's thin from December through February and starts to pick back up in March. One of the big challenges in the business it to try to figure out how to extend the season through as much of the winter as possible.
The picture at the right is from last night out on our deck welcoming visitors to the
Rainbow Haven Resort with a little Christmas Spirit. December "down time" means spending time doing things not so Resort related. Today it's dinner with the entire clan from Great Grandparents on down to the newest 5 month old member of the family. There even a few deviled eggs left to go around! (see
yesterdays post for the explanation of that)
One left over piece of business from yesterday was the gas line connecting the fireplace...….. Well...…. Didn't happen today either. Maybe tomorrow. We are experiencing some unseasonal warm weather right now so I guess it's not too important yet.

As the resorts are concerned, one of the challenges we will be facing before next season arrives is how we will be proceeding with the Fisherman's Hide Out. For the last two years, we've had it under a lease agreement from potential buyers. From the looks of it, we will be running it gain by January first. That means making a lot of decisions on how we plan to develop the property. There are a lot of options on the table but we are interested in developing it into a unique experience for guests/customers. and that could look like a lot of different things!. This will be an ongoing subject in the "Resort Adventures" articles.
