Day 12 - 353 Days to go
48 Days until March 1
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost on the Lake
Saturday included the left overs of a snow storm that completely missed us but left us in a cold and rainy band of weather that I preferred, but was still a day that staying inside was best. I went up to the White River Coffee Co. for a cup and a visit with the regulars there. Among the regulars was good friend and co-conspirator Jim. Jim is a retiree moved to Rockaway Beach a couple years ago and has become active in the community (Including serving as alderman) Jim and I have been promoting the town in an odd way since last Fall. It has developed quite a following, for the entertainment value more than anything. Mainly because none of what we are doing is based on fact, but only legend, rumor and hearsay. For example, we have published stories related to a "Nessie" living in the lake, various Bigfoot sightings, The Ghost of Mrs. O'Leary's Cow, Feral Yorkies protecting the town from Mountain Lions and so on. The most recent installment includes the Ghost of Al Capone, who was rumored to visit Rockaway Beach back in the 20's. Feel free to click any of the links and read about the "interesting" history.... or at least urban legends, of Rockaway Beach.
The day basically reduced itself to a nap in the afternoon and Football playoff games for the remainder of the day. I never claimed that Resort Adventures ever meant that we didn't take days off to do NOTHING!
