Day 41 - 324 Days to go
19 Days until March 1
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost on the Trail (Guatemala)
Today was a rainy, drizzly day and we had fishermen guests staying here over the weekend (and fishing in the rain) They checked out today and the pace dropped to a slow, sit by the fire, watch old movies kind of a day. Even though there is plenty to do, it's hard to get excited to get out of a cozy chair and go out in the cold. It could be worse of course. It could be snowing or sleeting. We did manage to get out around 3:30pm and run up to the "Last Resort" project to do a little work. I think we've finally figured out a game plan for that property. It will unfold over the next couple weeks.
I was looking at some of our tackle and gift shop souvenirs today while sorting and stacking all of it. I realized that I haven't spent much time lately making the branding of the "Base Camp" idea very clear. About a year ago, while on a cruise of all things, I was sitting out on the deck in a lounge chair enjoying the warm Caribbean sun struggling with a problem back home. The problem was how to begin to develop an identity for our different resort properties that helped people understand that we had more than one thing to offer. Each resort has it's own "flavor" you might say and customers at each one have always been very happy and content right where they were at. And there's noting wrong with that. It just meant that each property developed it's own identity different from the others and even though the past guests didn't need any help getting to where they wanted to be, new guests had a harder time finding exactly what they might be looking for. I occasionally would receive three and four phone calls from the same people, calling the same number for several different properties asking all the same questions.
My solution was to begin branding the "Resorts" under one identity and eventually begin to market them under that identity. So, Base Camp Resort and Cabin Co. was born. We have slowly begun to identify our different properties under that brand. We've also begun to brand our gifts, apparel and even some of our private label fishing tackle under the base camp brand and logo. Not to mention the Base Camp Premium coffee!
So when you see our "Base Camp" logo...….. Rest assured, It's all us!
