Day 65 - 300 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost in the Dark (Dark Colombian French Roast)
Today was one of those 5:30 am starts. I guess I've reached that age where there's no use fighting it when I wake up early. If I do manage to fall back to sleep, it takes me hours to wake back up. I've scheduled everything today around taking care of business not related to fixing, rehabbing or messing around with the properties at all. About once per week, my office desk looks like this picture. It piles up all week long and it would be very easy to simply ignore it and go work on a cabin or a boat or the pool...……. Or, just go fishing!
But no, there is a never ending list of bills needing paid, forms needing sent, merchandise needing ordered, merchandise needing checked in and unpacked and so on. Even the floor gets in on all the actions from time to time. AND BELIEVE ME...…. I did not stage these pictures just for the sake of dramatics. I think by tomorrow, it should be all caught back up and I'll take a picture of what it looks like when that happens.
I will be experiencing another sign of Spring today with the delivery of the first order of fishing tackle of the year. I'm usually stocked up pretty well by the end of summer and supplies don't get too depleted through the Winter. Wednesdays are the delivery days so Wednesday is like Christmas all season long. I know what's in the boxes (because I ordered it) but the excitement of unpacking fishing gear each week brings out the little "Christmas Morning" kid in me!
The Last Resort Project:
Yesterday, I gave Ray at The Last Resort a bad time. It was down to around 10 degrees that previous night and he had forgotten to close the crawl space door under his cabin and his water froze for a few hours. I asked him if he was ready to go fishing that morning. He said yes, but I don't believe him. I do know that he will probably be the first one to know when the Crappies are back around our docks. He brings us some of his first catches of the year every year. He never leaves enough for a legitimate fish fry. But it's always enough to whet our appetite for Spring fishing.
“You don't need to have either a destination or goal in mind when you set off on an adventure.
All you need to do is 'GET UP' and then 'GO!”
