Day 66 - 299 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost on the Trail (Guatemala)
I seldom get caught doing what I got caught doing today. Even though it happens quite a bit. You wouldn't even necessarily know what the picture was if I didn't let you in on it. Today, right in the middle of cutting a board for the ceiling, I took a call from a prospective guest. Answering the basic questions such as availability, cabin size, how many it sleeps, etc. are all routine and basic. What was happening in the picture was me trying to explain that, yes there are fish in the lake, and yes, you can catch them, and yes, I will do my best to point you in the right direction. It took a little more effort to convince them that there are nice Largemouth and Crappie in the lake as well as Trout. Anyway, that was one of two calls today from people wanting to know if they had a good chance of catching fish. The other caller just bypassed the whole conversation by asking if there were guides they could hire. (I wonder what that says about my advice?) The fish questions happen way more than you would think. Craig, the previous owner used to simply say "It depends on the fisherman" So, in the middle of cutting wood, I get to talk a little bit of fishing. (I guess that Shelley thought it was funny and picture-worthy)

The Last Resort Project:
Today was mostly a Last Resort day and thank goodness it was only a "One Burner" day. Most of the week it took two burners to warm the house up. I was able to get past perhaps the most tedious part of the whole project today, cutting the pine board ceilings to fit around the canister lights in the kitchen. They look good. I won't be done with the ceiling until tomorrow but at least it's past the lights. Two more rooms are painted and the texturing is done in the main bedroom. The house is already beginning to show a night and day difference from the condition it was in last month.
“Adventure starts at your front door and beyond.
So, get out there and go get your fill because adventure only starts when you do!”
