Day 201 - 164 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost up the Creek (Colombian)
Saturday has rolled around again and the demand for boats is returning. Even though we fight the shallow water every day, we are finding ways to get boats into the deeper water of the lake. Maybe the plowing through the silt is having a positive effect in creating a small channel to the deeper water. I don't know but we're getting it done.
I don't always get pictures of our customers, but occasionally, it's irresistible. This was the case today. This young man caught his own limit of trout and couldn't have been more proud. They picked up a few of the "Secret Formula Lures" and were able to limit out on fish in just a few hours. So, even if the lake is low, the fish don't seem to mind!
We are also enjoying the company of one of our daughters as the family begins to arrive for our "Celebration of Life" for mom who passed away earlier this week. It's good to see the kids even though it's under difficult circumstances. The memories we will share will no doubt turn to the fishing and camping that happened when I was just a kid and continue on through when our kids were all smaller. Included among all of that is stories of black bear encounters and paddling kayaks into Canada along the Gunflint Trail of the Minnesota Boundary Waters

The Last Resort Project:
I think the heat was enough for the boys yesterday. Last I heard they were heading for a cool spot in a movie theater.
“Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body. But rather, to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming .... WOW, what a ride.”
