October 17 - Resort Adventures

October 17, 2019
Day 290 - 75 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost in the Fog (Guatemala Decaf)

Left to Right: Teresa, Justin and Randy
The count-down for vacation is getting closer but the list of things needing done seems to keep getting longer. Leaving a business for a week, even in the slower season, is not an easy process. Fortunately, we have a couple of really good back up plans in the form of friends and family who seem to love the resort adventure as much as we do. My sister and her family look forward to our "escapes" for an opportunity to babysit the Resort businesses for us. Then there's Randy, Teresa and their son Justin who make sure to remind me that I NEED TO GET AWAY OFTEN and they are only a phone call away to watch over things while we're gone. They say it's a tough job but somebody needs to be there for us and look after things while we're gone. LOL. Actually Randy and Teresa have been coming here way longer than we have. I think for about 25 years now. Their room at Rainbow Haven Resort is number 11 until they are on "Baby-Sitting Duty", then it's room 12.

This time, all of them will be doing tag team duty and covering different days for us. (I'm a little worried that they may be plotting to take over completely and not let me come back.)

…...….....That may not be too bad of a deal!

Adventure Quote: “One final paragraph of advice: do not burn yourselves out. Be as I am - a reluctant enthusiast....a part-time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it’s still here. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, the lovely, mysterious, and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to the body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much; I promise you this one sweet victory over those desk-bound men and women with their hearts in a safe deposit box, and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this; You will outlive them”
