Day 7 - 359 Days to go
54 Days Until March 1
54 Days Until March 1
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost on the Trail (Guatemala)
Since we are in the somewhat boring task of building a new roof on one of the cabins, I thought I'd expand a little on a thought I had mentioned the other day. Personally, I love to create things that are "out of the ordinary". Since I love woodworking, building and architectural design, my preference is to build stuff. Interesting stuff, if I can. In the field of construction, you can only color outside the lines so far before you venture into unacceptable territory. To me, my problem is that nothing is off limits when it comes to making something extra interesting and unique. As I thought about that the other day, I realized that a resort property offered me the ability to color outside the lines all I wanted. There is no "acceptable" boundaries that can't be crossed. Not only that, but in my world, the more unconventional, the better. Treehouses are a good example of that. Even though people often say, "I could live in this", few actually would. Even fewer banks would consider financing one of these as an actual residence. Even though they meet all code requirements, it's just...….. too weird of an idea and is coloring just too far outside the lines for comfort. Trust me, this is true, just ask the seven banks that turned us down for a business loan to build treehouses. Our efforts to keep searching and pushing to make the treehouse resort a reality have been rewarded with a blank artists canvas to create the most over the top products we can imagine.
Anyway, I've possibly discovered one more reason why I love owning, living at and operating resorts. They give me the freedom to color outside the lines!...………. AND, You can make a nice living doing it! does it get any better?
