I found myself in the middle of a "Rant" this morning over a subject that's been a Pet Peeve of mine for years. Oddly enough, it is something that exists in my core beliefs that has been largely responsible for why we've seen success in our weird and goofy projects over the years. I think it's also the catalyst present that gives us the willingness to try "weird and goofy" in the first place. To many, building treehouses is weird and goofy. To some, building an off-grid homestead is weird and goofy. To me, it's all part of the normal routine and I Love It! Weird and goofy is always going to be relative to your tolerance for doing things out of the ordinary. And since the subject of this blog has shifted from our "Resort Adventures" to our "Do-It-Yourself Homestead" project, I think it applies here. The subject of my rant actually has some relevance to anyone who is desperately wanting to get out of the civilized rat-race and embark on a rural, woodsy, self-sufficient life, but can't see how to get it started.

My "Spoiler" on my rant has to do with two issues. The first is the idea of "Undercapitalization" the other is the idea of "Doing What It Takes" in an article I wrote called "Doing What It Takes", written mere minutes before I wrote todays DIY Homestead post. As I browse facebook groups related to Homestead, Off-Grid or Self-Sufficient life, I see many who long for that lifestyle. Without trying to build a case for making a plan and getting with it here in one small posting, I'll simply say that if the dream is big enough, you will find a way.
