Day 827 of the Adventure
I think I'm going back on a rant regarding grocery prices. I should have taken a picture of it but I didn't. A can (or tube) of "womp-um" biscuits for nearly $4.00. Biscuits and Gravy were on my mind for an upcoming breakfast this weekend. While at the grocery store I was shocked and irritated to see that biscuits the "easy way" were had nearly doubled in price. For a while I simply ignored it, anymore, I'm ready to implement a personal revolt against it. The whole experience of going to the grocery store, or the gas station, or any restaurant, or anyplace else for that matter is irritating. I suppose it's not so much the prices as it is the news that keeps trying to convince me that the economy is doing great. Give me a break. Tell me all you want to that it's not real, I don't believe it! This is just one more example of why it's time to develop a life of self-sufficiency. I've made and baked my own biscuits in the past and I guess as a statement of economic defiance, it's time to do it again.
Once again, I have to ask myself, "How are people doing it?" I mean I know that we have to eat and will probably sacrifice other things before our food. But isn't it time to take some kind of a personal stand, in principle if for no other reason. A stand against simply giving in to the astronomical costs of things now days. Find a more economical solution and detach from the reliance on providers of things where we have no control over the costs. I'm afraid I'm rambling and it's probably out of frustration that a tube of 8 biscuits is now almost 4 dollars. Beginning this week, I am on a "Biscuit Quest", a quest to find the best biscuit recipe I can. One that's also within the realm of my cooking abilities. As I test recipes out, I'll update my findings. I think it's also important to do the cost analysis of the recipes as well just to make sure that the $4.00 Womp-Um biscuits aren't actually cheaper than the raw ingredient biscuits. We'll see how it goes.
