Day 893 of the Adventure
Anyone who has ever owned equipment with small engines to power it no doubt can share in my pessimism when it comes to starting it up for the first time after it's set for a long time. Or eve not so long for that matter. I used to own a lawn mower that required roughly the same amount of time to start as it did to complete the mowing. Every Time! That's been my typical experience. Ironically, the equipment we have here now doesn't seem to have inherited those gene's. Our chipper for one, has sat now for about a year. Covered but still outside. I fully expected a bit of a struggle to get it started. Clinging to hope, I went ahead and loaded it into the bucket of the tractor and hauled it to the garden area to finish cleaning up the brush piles from our tree removal there. The moment of truth came as I pulled on the starting rope. First pull was a failure. I checked the controls and realized I had the choke in the wrong position. Second pull was a success. The chipper roared itself to life and was ready for service. I'm not quite sure how to deal with that! I guess by shoving a few branches down it's throat!
