June 7 - The Campfire Trail - Cucumber Sandwich? Maybe!

Day 980 of the Adventure


One by one, our garden crops are beginning to reach harvestability. The latest one to ready itself for picking are the cucumber plants. I've been ridiculing them on their size in previous posts, but they are finally becoming respectable. There's only a couple of them so far that have reached the size where we are taking note of them. Until the other hundred or so start to catch up, these first few will likely end up in a salad or perhaps some cucumbers and onions. Although, I remember having a cucumber sandwich on a cruise ship at a "Tea at Sea" event (or something like that) and remember that they were remarkably good! This guy along with one or two others will become our first fresh cucumber treat of the year!
