Day 322 - 43 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost in the Dark (Colombian Dark French Roast)
Monday began with a big pot of coffee, a box of donuts, a fist full of tools and a list of final repairs and corrections to get ready for our annual health department inspection. We go through this every year and every year, the inspectors manage to find something that needs fixed. If nothing else, there's always smoke detector batteries or fire extinguisher inspection tags missing. Once again this year, it was a very minor routine list plus a broken outlet or two. Throughout the season, smoke detectors are constantly being fiddled with by guests. When the batteries start going bad, about 20% of the time they will let me or our housekeepers know while 80% of the time they just take the offending battery out or remove the detector all together. SO...…. the fix list is almost always a simple one. This year we decided to go ahead and upgrade heaters and a lot of light fixtures and things at the same time so even though the inspection list may have amounted to a couple hours, we've been dragging our way through it along with everything else for about two weeks. But today is when it all needs to be done. An Adventure, by necessity, requires the unexpected. Even when it's in the form of the annual surprise inspection, we know that future guests will enjoy the product of our efforts.
