Day 1,368 of the Adventure
We've been slowly and methodically building upwards from the ledgestone rock base for our house construction project. Technically, the native Ozarks "ledgestone" is not bedrock, but it may as well be. Our basement footings are anchored into one large slab of limestone with no cracks or voids in it. We've drilled into it all along the foundation perimeter and anchored rebar pegs into it and tied horizontal rebar all around. I'm pretty confident that almost any other part of it will fail before the foundation part ever fails. Between all the rock, rebar, cement, blocks, more cement and so on, the process has been slow. Tomorrow, that changes. We'll be adding the frame walls that will make up the summer kitchen above the storm shelter. We'll go eight feet vertical in one day. This will be a welcome visual bit of progress. Of course, it all starts with a truckload of lumber!
Carry On
Adventure Quote: “He'd discovered that he liked houses. Maybe mostly because they were understandable. They could be calculated and drawn on paper. They did not leak if they were made water tight, they did not collapse if they were properly supported. Houses were fair, they gave you what you deserved.” ―
